How does ImAlive know if I am still alive?

By clicking the “I am alive” button from the app or via the website before the deadline. When activating ImAlive, you set a duration (7 days, 14 days, or 1 month) before an activity you consider risky. As long as you confirm your proof of life before the deadline, no emails or notifications will be sent to your loved ones.

What happens as soon as I give proof of life?

All your encrypted written messages, media, and documents are immediately and permanently erased from our servers (no residual data is retained). Rest assured: no email can ever be sent by mistake to your loved ones as long as you confirm your proof of life. The alert is strictly triggered only if the deadline passes without your confirmation. All your content remains safely saved on your phone for future use.

What happens if I forget to confirm my proof of life?

To prevent any false alarms, ImAlive sends you discreet reminder notifications on your phone before the deadline, prompting you to click the “I am alive” button.

Can I use ImAlive for free?

Yes, a lifetime free plan allows you to designate up to 2 loved ones, prepare up to 2 written messages, 2 souvenir photos, and 1 voice message of 30 seconds—with no credit card required and no commitment. Simply download the app and use it whenever you want.

How do subscriptions and lifetime purchases work?

Our Premium plans unlock unlimited access to all modules (written messages, media, and documents). For monthly or annual subscriptions, you can cancel at any time in one click with no commitment. A lifetime one-time purchase option is also available if you prefer having no recurring charges.

What do my loved ones receive if I don't give proof of life?

They receive an email with a secure link to a private portal accessible for 3 months to view and download your digital legacy (messages, media, and documents). After this period, all your data is permanently deleted from our servers.

Do my loved ones need to install the app to access my memories?

No, absolutely not. Your loved ones do not need an account or any application: they receive a secure link by email and can view and download your memories directly in any desktop web browser. As an optional bonus, if they install the app and log in with their email, they will also receive an instant push notification in addition to the email.

Are my loved ones notified when I activate ImAlive?

No, privacy is total. Your loved ones receive no emails and are not informed of your preparations as long as you confirm your proof of life. They will only be contacted in the event of no confirmation after the deadline.

Can I modify my messages or loved ones at any time?

Absolutely. Your written messages, media, and documents remain permanently saved on your phone as long as you do not delete the application. You can edit them, reassign recipients, or add new memories whenever you wish. You remain the sole master of your content.

Are my written messages, media, and documents readable in plaintext on ImAlive servers?

Absolutely not. All your messages, media, and documents are end-to-end encrypted locally on your phone using military-grade AES-256 before being transmitted to our secure cloud servers hosted at Supabase, a global leader in cloud infrastructure. Only your loved ones hold the key to unlock your memories. An ultra-secure decryption procedure is only conceivable upon an official court order issued by a judge. By ethics and absolute respect for your privacy, the ImAlive administrator never consults your personal data.

What exactly is AES-256 military-grade encryption?

Rest easy: AES-256 (Advanced Encryption Standard 256-bit) is the global standard used by banks, governments, and militaries to protect their most classified data. To break such a key without authorization would take billions of years even for the world's most powerful supercomputers: your data is mathematically unbreakable.
